KING

King – GRADE E
Raw Material: European
Production:  Italy
Thickness: 1.3/1,5 mm
Embossing: not embossed, naturally shrunken grain.

This is leather that was only slightly corrected, trying to keep its natural characteristics. This type of process is sometimes referred to as “half grain”, or “mezzo fiore”. This means that there was some buffing (correction) of the grain, hence the follicle is not as evident as before but the mechanical friction of the sand paper was not as strong as to strip most of the natural characteristics and strength of the natural leather. This leather will feel very soft to touch, softness emphasized by the absence of embossing which allows for its natural shrunken grain, yet, it is still a rather “smooth” leather. For shrunken grain it is usually intended the “pebble” pattern that appears on the leather after the dry milling process. This shrunken grain look is at its best when it is obtained by simple milling, yet, to obtain this, the skin must be kept as natural as possible. The pigmentation of this leather is done with a very thin, yet, reliable and resistant layer of high quality pigments to keep the natural characteristics of the leather.
